Barry Davies has committed himself to the Llanelli Scarlets by signing a new contract with the Stradey Park side. The full-back or wing would have become a free agent at the end of this season, with speculation he could move on.
"It was flattering to have other clubs wanting to sign me, but now the decision is made it's a weight off my shoulders," said the 24-year-old.
"We've got ambitious plans and there's a real buzz around and I want to continue to be part of it."
Davies and centre Matthew Watkins were targets for rival Welsh region the Cardiff Blues, who are also thought to be keen on Wales and Dragons back Hal Luscombe.
Although Watkins has yet to put pen to paper, the re-signing of Davies - who is vying with Garan Evans for the full-back spot - is a fillip to Scarlets coach Nigel Davies.
"Barry's been very much part of the region from his early development and shares our values and ambition," Davies said.
"Over the last couple of years in particular he has improved significantly as a player and is of international standard.
"We're all delighted he's staying - it shows he's confident in where we're going."
