Barry Davies has fallen down the Scarlets' full-back pecking order |
Llanelli Scarlets pair Matthew Watkins and Barry Davies are targets for rival Welsh region the Cardiff Blues. Centre Watkins and wing or full-back Davies are both out of contract at Stradey Park at the end of the season.
Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher confirmed that there are new deals on offer for the pair, but that the Blues are also keen to sign them.
"When you have players coming out of contract they will attract attention from other teams," Gallacher said.
"They are quality players and we are aware of the interest.
"We have put a contractual offer to both players and now it's up to the players to decide what they want to do at the end of the season.
"They have to weigh up whether playing for a team like the Blues is preferable to playing with the Scarlets, and the other issues involved around contracts.
"Players have to decide on many issues, not just the monetary issue, on where their futures are."
Davies lives in Cardiff Bay, while Watkins is based further east in Gwent and a move to the Blues would cut down travelling time for both.
Watkins impressed the Wales management during the autumn internationals, while Davies has fallen behind Lee Byrne - another to get a Wales chance - in the full-back pecking order at Stradey Park.
