Cockerill's title has changed from coach to director of rugby

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill says the club's preparations for the new season are ahead of schedule.

The reigning Premiership champions are currently in France on the latest leg of their pre-season tour.

And Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "Everything is really positive - the boys are working hard and the new guys have fitted in really well.

"We're probably a little bit further ahead than we thought we'd be."

Leicester begin the defence of their title in just under a month with an away fixture against Northampton Saints.
