Veteran Leicester Tigers prop Julian White has signed a new contract at Welford Road.

The Plymouth-born England and British and Irish Lions front-rower, 36, joined from Bristol in 2003 and has played 140 games for the club.

Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill said he was "delighted" with the news.

"Everyone knows what Julian brings. He is in the top category of scrummagers in world rugby. Experience counts for a lot in the front row," Cockerill added.

"He has been a great servant of Tigers over the last six years and is a popular guy with his colleagues and the supporters."

White, capped 51 times by England since his debut in 2000, moved to Welford Road after being part of England's World Cup winning squad of 2003.

He said: "I'm still enjoying my rugby and my time at Leicester. This is a great place to play your rugby and any player wants that to continue as long as possible."
