Corry's new company will support grass-roots rugby at Leicester
Former Leicester and England captain Martin Corry says he made a conscious decision not to go straight into coaching after retiring in the summer.
Corry returned to the Tigers this week in his new role as partnership director of the club's community programme sponsor, the Mark Group.
He told BBC Radio Leicester: "I'd been discussing this role for over a year.
"The pressure on coaches is so huge now. I didn't want to be somebody who went straight into coaching."
He added: "I wanted to make sure that if I was going to make that sacrifice it was because I really wanted to do it with a passion rather than because it was the next step to take".
Corry won five Premiership titles, two Heineken Cups and the EDF Energy Cup with Leicester and was part of England's World World Cup-winning squad in 2003.
He announced his retirement from international duty in 2008, but continued to play for Leicester as club captain until this summer.
He was presented to the fans during the first home game of the season against Newcastle to a standing ovation and three days later was back at the Oval Park training ground.
And he says he is relishing his new role which involves work with the club's community team.
"Tigers' Community Programme is a fantastic project in educational terms but it also puts the message of rugby out there for kids who wouldn't get it any other way," he said.
