Vesty is delighted to be back in a Leicester Tigers shirt
Leicester Tigers back Sam Vesty is relishing his return to the first team and is desperate to retain his place.
Vesty, who faces stiff competition when Toby Flood and Derick Hougaard return, has started the last two league games.
And he hopes more displays like the one that helped the Tigers beat Worcester 38-5 will keep him in the team.
"It's not my call but I'd like to think I add an extra dimension with running and playing a bit more of an attacking style," he told BBC Radio Leicester.
"But it's only been two games and it's not a run of five or six which is what you need at this level to stake your claim."
Vesty has fallen down the perking order since Pat Howard left the club in 2007 and his chances were further hampered by Toby Flood's move to Welford Road.
But recent injuries and international call-ups have given Vesty the chance and he is enjoying every minute.
"It's amazing the feeling you get when you run out for Leicester - that is why I love playing here. The fans always get behind me and the team," Vesty said.
"It's been hard when you are not playing and not involved."
And Vesty is also making the most of the opportunity to play a more open and attacking style.
"We've decided to play a little bit more rugby," Vesty explained.
"We're too good a squad to be playing boring kick-the-ball-and chase-it rugby and I think we've proved that over the last couple of weeks."
