Kay says team spirit is the key

Kay knows Wasps will come to Welford Road desperate for their first win

Leicester lock Ben Kay says team spirit, a strong work ethic and a desire to win are key factors in the Tigers' excellent start to the season.

Leicester will miss a number of key players for the visit of London Wasps to Welford Road on Friday night.

Kay told BBC Radio Leicester: "We've got a cracking squad with a lot of strength in depth.

"[Coach] Heyneke [Meyer] has brought in mental toughness and when the chips are down hopefully our fitness will tell."

Kay knows premiership champions Wasps, who are yet to win a game this season, will be a tough proposition.

"Having lost three games, this will be like a cup final for them and we all know how dangerous they are in cup finals.

"They will come to Welford Road without much fear and think they can turn us over."

The Tigers' last home defeat in the Premiership was 19-24 to Wasps in March.
