Tincknell is in his first season at Leeds |
James Tincknell has signed a new two-year contract with Leeds Carnegie. The 22-year-old centre originally arrived at Leeds in the summer on trial from Wharfedale and will now remain at Headingley until 2012. Tincknell explained: "It has been unbelievable how things have worked out for me since I came to Leeds. "I got my head down in pre-season and worked hard and thankfully the coaching staff have rewarded me for that and I have got some game time." He added: "I have really enjoyed playing as part of the team and I think my confidence has grown with every game. | We are looking forward to seeing how he continues to development in the months ahead Director of rugby Andy Key |
"I am constantly learning whether that is at training or in games and I know I still have a lot to learn." Tincknell has only been played rugby for two seasons after injury forced him to turn his back on a potential career as a professional cricketer. After impressing in pre-season, Tincknell has featured in the majority of Leeds' first-team matches so far this season, scoring one try, and was a stand-out performer in the 22-13 defeat against Stade Francais last Sunday. Director of rugby Andy Key said: "We are delighted James has agreed an extended contract with the club. "He has impressed everyone with his attitude since coming into the club and we are looking forward to seeing how he continues to development in the months ahead ."
