Flanker Fourie will use break to recharge batteries
South African Fourie qualifies for England on residency grounds
Leeds flanker Hendre Fourie believes the enforced break after his ankle operation will help him mentally prepare for the Premiership season.
Fourie returned from England's tour of Australia after damaging ligaments against the Australian Barbarians.
Fourie told BBC Radio Leeds: "I've had a fair amount of rest but I'm still a bit psyched up.
"I've not been away from rugby for a year so I need to go home and recharge mentally more than physically."
Fourie believes that once he has recovered he deserves another opportunity with England at international level.
He said: "I've had a few disappointments before, but hopefully I will get another chance as I feel I proved I can play at that level.
"Some ligaments will be reattached to the bone. I am not too happy about missing some of the pre-season but hopefully I will be back well before the season starts."
