Leeds Carnegie's Andy Key confident on new funding
Key, left, and Neil Back hope to push Leeds into the top six next season
Leeds Carnegie director of rugby Andy Key the club are working hard to find new sponsorship partners.
Leeds have made a plea for further investment to the tune of £1m to help them break into the Premiership's top six next season.
"What the club has to do is developing partners with a number of sponsors," Key told BBC Radio Leeds.
"Everyone at the club is working hard to do that and will continue to work hard to get what we need."
Leeds will gain an extra £1m for next season after securing their Premiership future, but that will go towards clearing a budget deficit of £1.2m.
This is the first time the Yorkshire club have every gone into the red and is due to a calculated gamble of bringing in better quality players to secure their survival, which in turn resulted in an £800,000 increase in the playing budget.
Any extra funding Leeds receive would be used to improve the playing squad even further.
Key explained: "The management team is working behind the scenes to secure that new investment and sponsors in order to take this club into another era which will allow this club to become a consistent top six Premiership side and we are looking forward to that challenge.
"The first step in achieving that goal is to bring in a number of new players to take us forward and we need more money to do that.
"We have some interesting players we are in the throws of signing and we'll be announcing them in the near future and our future as a whole is very exciting now."
