Leeds United boss Simon Grayson vows to spend wisely

Grayson has won promotion in his first full season in charge at Leeds

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson says he will not spend recklessly after his team secured promotion on Saturday.

"We won't be going around saying we have 'x' pounds to spend because we might not have lots of money to spend," Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds.

"Whatever I do get, I'll spend wisely and make sure it doesn't negatively affect the club.

"I have a list of players I'd like to bring in and getting promoted gives me a head start to try to get them."

Leeds ended their three season stint in League One after coming from behind with 10 men to beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 at Elland Road on the final day of the campaign.

"Attracting players to Leeds is not a problem because of the facilities, the fan base and what this club can achieve, " Grayson added.

"But we do have to cut our cloth accordingly and spend the money in the right direction and wisely.

"There is no reason the majority of the players currently in the squad can't be successful next year but there is no doubt I will have to bring in a few more.

"I'll look to see what is around and work though my list of players in areas that I know need strengthening. Hopefully I'll be able to bring those players in sooner rather than later."
