Academy product Armstrong made his Leeds debut in 2007
Winger Scott Armstrong says Leeds Carnegie are determined to prove the doubters wrong and show they are not a yo-yo side.
Leeds were criticised by the national press after last week's 27-7 loss to Worcester as they try and get to grips with their return to the top-flight.
"We want to change people's opinions of us," Armstrong told BBC Radio Leeds.
"People think we are just a poor yo-yo team, we are not. We want to create a positive atmosphere about the club."
Leeds won only two games the last time they were in the Premiership, but Armstrong believes this time around things will be different.
"When we went on a pre-season tour of France and had a big team meeting. The major thing that came out of it was to change people's image of us," said Armstrong.
"We want to be the best team in the north in the Premiership, we are striving for that top six finish eventually.
"It's not going to come over night, but we are all working very hard to get there.
Armstrong, 22, has come off the bench in Leeds' first two games against Newcastle and Worcester and is determined to become a permanent fixture in the West Yorkshire side's starting line-up this season.
"I really want to establish myself this season and try and get into that starting 15," he added.
"I want to get as much game time as possible and gain more experience.
"I'm still young and really learning the game. We've brought in people like Seru [Rabeni] and Henry [Fa'afili] so hopefully their experience will help me grow a lot more.
"It's very important to learn off those types of guys. I only started playing rugby at 15-years-old, so I still have a long way to go."
