Hinton played for Moseley and Bedford before joining Leeds
Leeds Carnegie's Leigh Hinton faces a further 10 weeks on the sidelines after undergoing a shoulder operation.
The 30-year-old full-back damaged the acromioclavicular - or AC - joint in his shoulder during Leeds' pre-season tour of France at the start of August.
"It's very frustrating but these things happen," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
"Once I've recovered from the operation it will be like starting pre-season all over again and will have a hard 10-week training programme set out for me."
Hinton was Leeds' leading try scorer last season with 17 tries and suffered the injury in Leeds 19-14 win over French second division side Aurillac in their first pre-season game.
"Hopefully I'll be ready for the start of October, so that's the aim," said Hinton.
"I'm hoping I can hit the ground running and help the team out straight away when I return. I'll be raring to go again by then.
"We have Jon Goodridge at full-back, who will do a great job and I'm sure when I come back he'll have made it very tough for me to get back into the team."
BBC Radio Leeds will have full match commentary of every Leeds Guinness Premiership game and Anglo-Welsh Cup matches, plus home European games.
