Gormarsall made his debut for Leeds Carnegie at Twickenham |
Leeds Carnegie academy manager Diccon Edwards has praised his team after a successful trip to the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham. The young squad won their opening game 28-19 against London Wasps with two tries from new signing Andy Gomarsall. Edwards said: "When we looked at the draw we always knew it was going to be tough to progress to the final. "However, collectively and as individuals, we achieved the goals we set ourselves." Leeds were unlucky enough to draw the invitational Samaria team in the second round who had a team sheet filled with international Sevens. However Leeds, with an average age of 22, managed to end the game with their pride in tact with three tries from James Twomey, Oli Stedman and Scott Armstrong "There were personal victories for all the guys out there and they can take that effort forward now into the new season," Edwards added. "It was a very worthwhile experience and a really good occasion, especially as we achieved all we set out to do." BBC Radio Leeds will have full match commentary of every Leeds Guinness Premiership game and Anglo-Welsh Cup matches, plus home European games.
