Armstrong is the oldest member of the squad at 22 |
Leeds have selected a young squad to compete in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham on Saturday. First teamers Scott Armstrong and Jacob Rowan are joined in the squad by academy products such as scrum-half Dan White and prop Scott Freer. The squad has an average age of 20 and will be coached by academy manager Diccon Edwards. Leeds face Wasps in the first round, and six of the squad played in last year's tournament. Edwards said: "We are going there looking to build on the experience of last year. "We have a few sevens specialists in the group and hopefully we can surprise a few people. "A lot of the young players have been training with the first-team squad during the summer and have really benefited from the full-time training environment and I know they are keen to show what they can do. "We have got Wasps first up on Saturday and we will take it from there but it is a great occasion and a tremendous experience for everyone involved." Leeds squad: Alex Black, Dan White, Tom Denton, Oli Denton, George Warner, Scott Freer, Adam Greendale, Jacob Rowan, Scott Armstrong, Joe Ford, James Twomey, Oli Stedman. BBC Radio Leeds will have full match commentary of every Leeds Guinness Premiership game and Anglo-Welsh Cup matches, plus home European games.
