Castrogiovanni crunches into Morgan in the thrilling 41-41 draw at Leicester |
Olly Morgan is set to miss the rest of Gloucester's season after dislocating his shoulder early in the 41-41 Premiership draw at Leicester Tigers. The full-back sustained the injury 10 minutes in after a tackle under a high ball by prop Martin Castrogiovanni. The shoulder took two hours to put back in and 25-year-old Morgan said through Twitter: "Some pain, but know the rehab like the back of my hand." Morgan's injury further stretches Gloucester's resources in the backs. England skipper Mike Tindall is out for the season following ankle surgery, while strike runners James Simpson-Daniel, Lesley Vainikolo and Charlie Sharples and fly-half Nicky Robinson also sat out the Tigers' trip after recent injuries. Morgan had scored the first of Gloucester's five tries six minutes in at Welford Road but was steamrollered by the charging Castrogiavanni four minutes later in the build-up to Leicester's opening try. "I hope it's not too bad because he's had his ups and downs and he doesn't need any more serious injuries," said Cherry and Whites head coach Bryan Redpath. The match was the highest scoring draw in the history of the Premiership and the 41 points Gloucester scored were the most their hosts had conceded at Welford Road in the league. The three points Gloucester earned were enough to keep them third in the table, one point ahead of Northampton who they face next on Tuesday evening at Kingsholm, when Robinson and Sharples are set to return.
