Alex Brown signs two-year Gloucester deal

Gloucester and England lock Alex Brown has signed a new two-year contract that will keep Kingsholm until 2013.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Cherry and Whites from hometown club Bristol in 2003, has also been granted a testimonial in the 2012/13 season.

"I'm very proud to have been here for so long and part of a fantastic team," Brown told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"I got offers from other clubs that were fantastic, but Gloucester has become a home for me."

He added: "We've had some good success along the way but maybe not got the trophies we want. I'm delighted to get the new two-year contract and get it off my mind."

Brown, who made his 200th Premiership appearance earlier this season, follows Andy Hazell and Jonny May in pledging his future to Gloucester.

"I've played there for so long now," said Brown. "Just to put on the shirt and run out at Kingsholm, the fantastic support we get every week - it's a pleasure to play in front of those fans.

"I was delighted to be asked to have a testimonial year. I'm going to really enjoy that year and it's something I'll look back on and be hugely proud of."
