Robinson played 34 times for Gloucester during 2009-10 |
Gloucester and Wales fly-half Nicky Robinson says he feels more settled at Kingsholm after getting his first season under his belt. The 28-year-old scored an impressive 324 points in his first year after joining from Cardiff Blues. "I'm more comfortable this year and the squad is more settled," Robinson told BBC Gloucestershire. "The coaches and players have learned a lot from last year, so I'm looking forward to kick-starting the season." The 2009-10 season was a transitional one for Gloucester, with the club missing out on silverware and qualification for the Heineken Cup, although the Cherry and Whites were runners-up in the LV= Cup to Northampton. Robinson was largely unchallenged for the number 10 shirt last season following the departure of Carlos Spencer and Tim Taylor only joining mid-way through the season - while talented youngster Freddie Burns often played full-back. "Tim Taylor showed last year when he came on that he can perform, so I think there's three of us there that are going to be fighting it out." "That goes for most of the positions in the squad, we haven't got a massive squad, but what we have got is a lot of competitiveness amongst it." "It's important that carries on through the season, obviously it's there now during pre-season with boys pushing each other and I'm sure that'll continue in to the season."
