New Gloucester deal for Tim Molenaar

Molenaar was born in New Zealand but is English qualified

Powerful centre Tim Molenaar has signed a contract extension at Gloucester, keeping him at the club until 2012.

The 29-year-old moved to Kingsholm from Nottingham on a two-year deal and made 28 appearances, scoring three tries.

Head coach Bryan Redpath said: "The big challenge for Tim will be next season. He has to work hard on his distribution and he's not a natural kicker.

"However, what he does do is direct and and very committed, and when you have that there's not a lot else you need."

Redpath revealed that Molenaar had lost more than a stone to get to a suitable playing weight that would allow him to show his best form, but that his second season promised to even more testing.

He said: "Teams and players are going to know him but the staff here have enjoyed working with him. We've got to work to make him better than he is, and that's something he wants to do as well so he's definitely an asset to the club."
