Gloucester prop Paul Doran-Jones says former All Black Greg Somerville will be missed at Kingsholm.

Doran-Jones credits the 32-year-old with playing a big part in his development at Gloucester.

"He's been an enormous help to me, he's taken me under his wing," the 24-year-old told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"He's willing to pass it on to all the young guys - he's never got too little time for you, it's been a real asset to me and something I'm going to miss."

I've got to get my foundation right - that's what's most important

Having joined Gloucester in the summer of 2009 and being able to play on both sides of the scrum, Doran-Jones is among those who could take Somerville's place in the team when he leaves for the Melbourne Rebels in May.

He made his England debut as a replacement against Argentina in November, but admits he has found some parts of stepping up to the Premiership difficult after joining from London Welsh:

"I've always prided myself as being quite a mobile, fit prop but just the intensity of the scrummage at this level has just nailed me down a little bit," he said.

"I've got to get that right, I've got to get my foundation right - that's what's most important - and then build on that next season really, get a good season and then hopefully roll in next year flying."
