Nicky Robinson played for Cardiiff against Gloucester in the Heineken Cup last season. |
Summer recruit Nicky Robinson believes Gloucester's order of games in the Heineken Cup will enhance their hopes of making the knockout stages. Gloucester start with a home game against the Dragons before a trip to Biarritz the following weekend. Robinson told BBC Gloucestershire: "In Europe it's important to win your home games, so it's good to start with one. "I've played the Dragons a few times and they've recruited well so I know they'll be a tough side to play." Gloucester face Glasgow in back to back games in December before welcoming Biarritz to Kingsholm and finishing Pool Two with a trip to Rodney Parade to face Newport-Gwent Dragons. "With the French sides you're never quite sure what you're going to get. One year they could struggle in the French championship and the next year they could be in the top four," Robinson added. "I've played Glasgow in the Magners League and they'll be difficult to beat especially away from home. They've picked up some great scalps in Europe over the past couple of years. "People look at our group against the others and think we have a good chance of getting through but it's in the tricky games where you've got to really perform well."
