Tindall calls for Ryan decision

Tindall does not know if he will be working with Ryan next season

Mike Tindall has urged Gloucester to clear up the uncertainty over the future of head coach Dean Ryan.

Cherry and Whites chairman Tom Walkinshaw launched an end-of-season review assessing all aspects of the club after a disappointing campaign.

But the details of his findings and any impact it may have on the coaching structure have yet to be announced.

Tindall told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It needs to be sorted out as soon as it can for peace in everyone's mind."

Walkinshaw promised "serious surgery" after a losing end to the season which saw the club thrashed in the EDF Energy Cup final against Cardiff Blues and finish off the pace in sixth place in the Guinness Premiership.

Ryan is contracted to Gloucester for three more years and there has been speculation that assistant coach Bryan Redpath would step up to replace the 42-year-old, who in turn would be made director of rugby.

Talks between the leading figures are ongoing, but as yet the future structure of the club remains unclear, even though the players are already back in training under the supervision of fitness coach Mark Bitcon.

The freshened-up squad are set to turn their attention to the rugby side of their pre-season preparations in late July, but Tindall is unsure as to who he and his squad will be answering to when the time comes.

"We're back in pre-season now so we've just got to get on and train," added captain Tindall.

"Ideally you want everything settled down as quickly as it can be, but in certain areas that's never possible. Towards the top end of the club it always takes that little bit more time.

"Mark's set out what he wants to do and we're just attacking that at the moment and then hopefully by the time it comes round to getting into the rugby side of it things will be sorted."
