Dean Ryan was unhappy with Gloucester's last 30 minutes |
Bayonne capitalised on Gloucester's second-half errors to beat them 30-9 in their pre-season friendly in France. Willie Walker kicked three penalties to put the English side 9-0 up, Bayonne scored 30 points without reply. Head coach Dean Ryan told the official club website: "We were organised and played within the structure we had talked about for 50 minutes. "We then made two or three silly errors and our reaction to that was panicky. There can be no excuses for mistakes." The match was hastily arranged after Cardiff pulled out of a game scheduled for Kingsholm this Friday. Ryan added: "We had to try and create things we had not worked on and when you do that in France you get picked off. "When you play for Gloucester it is about operating at a high level consistently and in that respect we should have been more competitive." Fly-half Ryan Lamb missed the match because of illness. Gloucester's only remaining friendly is at home to Glasgow Warriors on Saturday, 30 August. Their first Premiership game is at home to Leicester on 7 September.
