Brain signs new deal at Bristol

Bristol forwards coach John Brain
Brain was previously at Worcester as director of rugby

Bristol forwards coach John Brain has signed a one-year contract extension.

Brain joined the Bristol staff under former head coach Richard Hill in 2007, after six seasons at Worcester, and is now working under new chief Paul Hull.

"Paul and I have spoken a lot about the future and I'm extremely happy with the direction the club is heading and to commit myself to the cause," he said.

Head coach Hull added: "I'm absolutely delighted that John will continue to be at my side next season."

Brain, 48, came to the club after the surprise departure of the popular Martin Haag in the summer of 2007 and has struggled to win the full backing of Bristol's supporters.

However, he is held in high esteem by Bristol's forwards and Hull, who added: "John has a superb track record as a forwards coach.

"But he's also been a head coach and director of rugby in his own right at Worcester and his input and advice are extremely valuable to me."
