Veteran prop Darren Crompton has signed a new two-year contract with Premiership strugglers Bristol.

The 33-year-old is closing in on Bristol's all-time appearance record having spent a total of eight seasons at the Memorial Stadium in two spells.

And he is the seventh player head coach Paul Hull has secured on a new deal.

"Paul Hull's only been in charge for a couple of weeks but what I've seen and what he's told me about his plans made it an easy decision," said Crompton.

"I've been here for the majority of my career and am really pleased that it's all been sorted so I can concentrate on the remaining fixtures this season."

Crompton, who won an England cap in 2007, began his career at Bath.

He moved back to the west country from Richmond in 1999 and his stay at Bristol was only broken when he spent the 2004/05 a season at Cardiff.
