Bristol have signed England Saxons and Harlequins fly-half Adrian Jarvis for next season on a two-year contract. Jarvis, 24, told the club website: "I've been very happy at Quins but, at this stage of my career, I think I need a change. "I think Bristol is going to be a good place for me to live and play my rugby. "Bristol's a very traditional club, right in the heart of its community. You don't really get that in London and that's something that appealed to me." Jarvis made his Harlequins debut back in 2004, and has been a regular at The Stoop in recent seasons. He was also part of the England Saxons squad for the 2007 Churchill Cup, and scored 13 points in their 38-15 win over Italy. | He's a quality player and, at just 24, he's still got his best years ahead of him Bristol head coach Richard Hill |
Bristol head coach Richard Hill says that signing Jarvis is part of his plan to develop his team's attacking game. "I've gone on record in recent weeks to say that we are looking to develop our attacking game having focused on defence and set-piece since returning to the Guinness Premiership," said Hill. "Adrian will help us to achieve that as he's not just a goal kicker, he's also a ball handling fly-half who is not afraid to move it around. "He's a quality player and, at just 24, he's still got his best years ahead of him despite already having clocked up a lot of experience in the Premiership." Jarvis is looking forward to getting started and added: "I spoke in depth to Hilly [Richard Hill] and he explained the brand of rugby that he's trying to play here and the role I could play and I found the prospect really exciting."
