Perenise has seven Samoa caps |
Bath have signed Samoa prop Anthony Perenise on a three-year contract. The 28-year-old tight-head, who currently plays for Wellington Hurricanes in the Super 15, will join after the 2011 World Cup. Bath director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan said: "He's an experienced international, who is a very powerful and technically accurate scrummager. "He is also incredibly mobile. That will make him a very big threat for opposing teams." Perenise has played 16 times for the Hurricanes and won one of his seven caps for his country in the 26-13 defeat by England in November 2010. He said: "I'm very excited to be joining such a prestigious club and it has always been an ambition of mine to play northern-hemisphere rugby." Bath were in the market for new front-row options following the enforced retirement of long-serving prop David Barnes through injury.
