Cuthbert will make his first Premiership start against Saracens on Sunday |
Bath head coach Steve Meehan was full of praise for full-back Jack Cuthbert after his side were edged out 18-16 by Wasps in the LV= Cup. The 23-year-old backed up an impressive display against Cardiff with a near faultless performance at Adams Park. "He played very well off the back of last week's match. He's maturing and getting better and better as a rugby player," Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol. "He'll certainly be in the starting XV for next week when we host Saracens." Meehan continued: "His decision making is better than it has been for the last 12 months or two years before that and we've seen him develop into a fine rugby player." The Scotland A international was not the only player to make a good impression. Academy graduate Nick Scott came in at short notice for Matt Banahan, who was not released by England, to make his first start for Bath. The 20-year-old made a cameo appearance in the Heineken Cup match at Aironi and then had 30 minutes in the 29-19 win against Cardiff last week. "He did the basics very, very well and I'm delighted for him," said Meehan. "That's exactly the right place to start for any rugby player. If you do the basics well then you can build off the back of it."
