Bath's Australian back Matt Carraro says he would love to stay at the club beyond his current two-year deal.

Carraro arrived at the Rec last summer from Australian Super 15 side New South Wales Waratahs.

"I'd definitely love to play here in the future," the 26-year-old told BBC Points West.

"This place has been amazing and it would hard to play anywhere else in England. We've definitely fell on our feet here."

Carraro continued: "I had a good run when I was back in Australia and got to play Australia A which was a huge accomplishment for myself.

"But I've moved on overseas and I always love experiencing something new as it brings out the best in you."

Carraro had a mixed first season having been a regular at outside centre until February when Olly Barkley returned to the side and he got sidelined.

"Everyone was waiting for Butch [James] the saviour to come back and Olly [Barkley]," he said.

"They both came back at the same time which was great for the team but not so good for myself.

"I was looking forward to playing with those guys but unfortunately it wasn't to be."

In Bath's first game of the 2010/11 Premiership campaign Carraro played on the wing, where he scored a try in the 32-16 win and he is happy to play either role.

"I love playing centre as it gives you more freedom on the field and you can go where you like," he said.

"But my time on the wing here has been great especially with the guys inside you and the ability to get you the ball in space."

Next up for Steve Meehan's side at the Rec are London Irish who won the corresponding fixture last season 16-0, a watershed moment for the club that season.

"I think I can easily forget about the game as I touched the ball once and didn't make a tackle. I made more tackles in the warm-up," said Carraro

"It was the low point in our season and we definitely don't want to go back there.

"We've got a lot to make up for our fans and what better way than our first home game."
