James joined Bath from Natal Sharks in 2007

Bath insist that South African fly-half Butch James will see out the final two years of his contract.

There have been rumours that the World Cup winner would be returning to Natal Sharks but 30-year-old James has pledged his future to Bath.

Chief executive Nick Blofeld told BBC Radio Bristol: "We're delighted and I'm sure the fans are as well.

"It's difficult to find a world-class fly-half and we're pleased that Butch will be with us for another two years."

He continued: "He always wanted to stay here but there was an issue with 'was he better placed to be back in South Africa to represent his country?'

"We didn't want to stand in anybody's way."
