Paul Shields is in line to claim a place in Ireland's World Cup squad |
Ulster coach Alan Solomons has included Ireland World Cup hopefuls Gary Longwell, Paul Shields and Simon Best in the team for Friday's friendly against Orrell.
Ireland fly-half David Humphreys and another World Cup prospect Jonathan Bell will both miss the Ravenhill game.
Humphreys is being rested after picking up a minor leg knock in Saturday's international win over Wales.
Bell, meanwhile, suffered a scare in Ulster training on Tuesday morning when he took a severe bang on his hand.
At first there were fears that he might had suffered a break but x-rays revealed that it was nothing worse than bruising.
Solomons has awarded Ulster debuts to new signings Andrew Maxwell, Ronan McCormack and Roger Wilson while Seamus Mallon will also start.
Tony McWhirter has been named in the starting line-up although he could have to drop out after suffering a dislocated finger in training on Tuesday.
If McWhirter does miss out, Neil Best will come into the starting line-up with Rowan Frost drafted into the replacements.
Matt Mustchin, who has joined Ulster this season from the Canterbury Crusaders and youngster Tommy Bowe have both been named on the bench.
Ulster: Bryn Cunningham, Seamus Mallon, Ryan Constable, Shane Stewart, Andrew Maxwell, Paddy Wallace, Kieran Campbell, Ronan McCormack, Paul Shields, Simon Best, Matt McCullough, Gary Longwell, Tony McWhirter, Andy Ward (capt), Roger Wilson. Replacements: Matt Sexton, Clem Boyd, Matt Mustchin, Neil Best, Reece Spee, Tommy Bowe, Scott Young
