2115 BST: Alan Scott, Oxfordshire
The Lions were second best today, no doubt at all. But if Tana Umaga escapes punishment for a deliberate attempt to injure his opposite number 10 yards off the ball, the game will be the poorer. He also was not picked up by the referee for a trip on Josh Lewsey on the knee in the second half, the sort of challenge which broke Stuart Abbot's leg against France last season. Rugby is a man's game and winning the one-on-one confrontations against your opposite number fairly is an important part of the game - but what Umaga did was just thuggish and should have no part in our sport.
2022 BST: Liam O'Hagan, Portland, Oregon
In 1983 beating the Lions put the All Blacks on top of the world, but yesterday's result does nothing to quiet the "niggling doubts" all Kiwis have about the All Blacks' big match temprament. Beating the Lions will be poor consolation if the men in black can't reverse history in France in two years and five months.
2019 BST: Bob Richardson, Ontario, Canada
Sir Clive needs more than Alistair Campbell to spin his way out of this one, there are simply no positives. It's not a wonder the squad should look for a scapegoat in the guise of Mealamu and Umaga. Better that he analyzes the problems of his selection policy and preparation. Sir Clive calls this "the best prepared Lions team in history." And British journos like the Times' Stephen Jones have spent years denigrating the Super 12 and calling New Zealand forwards soft. Maybe the Lions spend too much time reading their press clippings instead of getting stuck into hard work.
2009 BST: David McKnight, Wellington, NZ
After the first Test, it is clear that there is another level of physical intensity played in NZ rugby. But this physical nature is evident from schoolboy rugby through to international level. It's the way NZ rugby is nurtured. The Super 12 nations have adapted to the higher intensity. It appears the Six Nation sides need to improve on this. It's not about the "in your face" attitude, but the physical presence, i.e. body on the line tackling, smashing the ball straight up the forwards, and every man in support blowing over and recycling.
1935 BST: Sheamus McIntyre
As a Kiwi Irish relation of the great John William McBride I hope Brian O'Driscoll is ok and wish him a speedy recovery. Brian, if there is any question of foul play you have both the NZ and Irish public behind you mate!
1829 BST: Ross, Bath
Steve in Derbyshire suggests more warm up games; I would suggest not wasting the games Clive Wayward had to get his Test team together. The squad is far too big Woodward placed no emphasis on playing the Test players together, even though he has known his Test team for weeks.
1808 BST: Leo, Bath
I was the only Kiwi in a pub full of Brits this morning. The All Blacks were brilliant but they can still improve...they will get better in Wellington and will put 30 points on the Lions. It's a shame Sir Clive Wayward started to whinge about a few dodgy referee decisions. He is the most ungracious loser...always has been, always will be.
1748 BST: Adrian Burton, Herfordshire
To me it's a cheap shot blaming Woodward outright for everything that is going wrong on this tour. At the end of the day the players have to deliver. I don't think there are players on this tour that could have made a difference to the result of this game, New Zealand were just too good. Man for man New Zealand were better than anything the Lions have. In terms of selection, Woodward was right to pick Wilkinson. Would Gavin Henson have put in those tackles that Wilkinson did? Saying that, I hope Henson is in next week.
1735 BST: Chris Wearmouth, Milton Keynes
I agree completely with Ian Robertson. In 1993 the Lions were robbed of a victory over the All Blacks by a controversial refereeing decision. And in 2001 the 2nd Test defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory. In both cases there was something optimistic to be taken out of the game. This morning, however, was a different matter altogether. The Lions were so comprehensively outplayed and out-thought by the ABs that at this moment in time I can't think of any squad members who could make a significant difference.
1722 BST: Spencer Bishop, Taunton
It must be absolutely heart breaking for O'Driscoll. So much effort and preparation for just one minute of Test action. It is a massive blow for the squad too. However it might be the thing that pulls them together. Sir Clive has got an awful lot to think about. He is the man who picks the side and at the end of the day we MUST get behind whatever 15 players are chosen to wear the most important shirt in world rugby.
1700 BST: Gerwyn, Leamington
Thank goodness it wasn't dry - imagine what the All Blacks could have done then!
1609 BST: Steve, Derbyshire
This is the end for the Lions. Indisputable proof that the international calendar cannot accommodate sufficient preparation time to enable the Lions to be competitive. We all saw today that they needed at least two more warm-up games to prepare properly. Woodward had no real choice but to select proven players from his past - but I bet he wishes he'd stuck with one proven player - Steve Thompson !!!
1545 BST: BBC Radio Wales
Tana Umaga and Keven Mealamu will not be punished for the incident which ruled Brian O'Driscoll out of the Lions tour, BBC Radio Wales understands. But Lions lock Danny Grewcock has been cited for an alleged biting incident.
1447 BST: Simon Wailes, London
There will be a lot of Woodward bashing after this result, but at the end of the day the tactics were right but the players let him down massively. A truly awful performance.
1437 BST: Andrew, Phuket
The team was disjointed and too many players were out of position. Changes need to be made for the next Test. Let's take the game to the Kiwis. Come on the Lions!
1351 BST: Lions coach Sir Clive Woodward
I have watched the tapes from all the angles, and spoken at length with Brian, who is back at the hotel with his shoulder in a sling. He is in no doubt he was spear-tackled by two New Zealand players, the hooker and Tana Umaga. In my opinion, it is a pretty horrendous tackle which has put Brian out for a long time. It took half an hour to put his shoulder back in. 1210 BST: Dave Brammer, Manchester
A Black Day! Losing the talismanic O'Driscoll means that the tour has well and truly fallen apart for the Lions. First Dallaglio, now BOD, Hill and Shanklin in the same day. Outclassed in every department. It doesn't matter how many players Woodward has at his disposal in NZ, he won't be able to come up with a winning combination for Wellington.
1205 BST: Geoff Cooke, Auckland
I can't remember a time in my 45 years when New Zealand rugby has had such a wealth of talent in coaching staff and personnel in charge of our top team, bad timing for the Lions tour to coincide with this.
1200 BST: Keith Wood, BBC Sport pundit
Hooker Shane Byrne has to take a chunk of the flak because he was picked for the line-out and did not throw particularly well. Byrne struggled with his throwing but can't take all the blame. But the rest of the line-out did not work well either. There was an awful lot of hesitation over who was going where. 1159 BST: Matthew Bryan, Newcastle
The team that should have been picked is one that would have taken the game to the All Blacks, and include those players with awesome fighting spirit who still have a lot to play for in their careers.
1130 BST: BBC Sport
Lions skipper Brian O'Driscoll, Richard Hill and Tom Shanklin will take no further part in the tour because of injury. 1058 BST: Ian Robertson, Radio Five Live
The saddest thing about today's display is that it is hard to look ahead with any optimism to next week's second Test.
1055 BST: Lions coach Sir Clive Woodward
I'm not sure there will be radical changes for next week. To lose two quality players early on rocked us but we came second today and we have to hold our hands up and admit that.
1028 BST: Matthew Rees, Swansea
What options did Sir Clive have after Brian O'Driscoll was injured? Surely he must be kicking himself for not having Gavin Henson on the bench.
1026 BST: Jim Pearson, Tauranga
Umaga once again proved his worth as a captain. If the weather is better in Wellington or Christchurch the All Black's running game could make it a bit one-sided. Didn't see any pace in the Lions tonight regardless of the conditions.
1021 BST: Tom Williams, Australia
Wilkinson definitely to go to fly-half for second Test. Needs to be more involved in attack and give Lions some direction. Was also phenomenal in defence but couldn't get the ball at all in attack. Obviously a new hooker needed or some serious throwing practice! All Blacks were unbelievable!
1017 BST: Lions stand-in captain Martin Corry
We were put under enormous pressure in the line-outs and we didn't play the wet weather conditions very well. We were poor and we have to take it on the chin and look to be better next week. 1012 BST: James Wafer, Wellington
It's gonna be a long week till the next Test as a ex-pat here in NZ. Sir Clive needs to make changes and if he has any sense Steven Jones can kiss his number 10 jersey goodbye.
1008 BST: Chris Dowding, England
This is what happens when you pick players on reputation and not form. Bring the likes of Henson in for the second Test and let them have a real go at the All Blacks.
1001 BST: Dave, Auckland
The Lions have come up against a very well drilled All Black team courtesy of coach Henry. Need to get a quicker and more positive response for Wellington in a week.
0952 BST: Rowena Everson, Singapore
The atrocious line-outs by the Lions begs the question who we're going to play in hooker next. How about Steve Backley, at least he could throw straight
0943 BST: Craig Nicholson, England
It's all going horribly wrong in the second half. They need to improve for the Second Test.
0930 BST: Neil Preece, Hereford
Woodward has got the selection of the squad all wrong, should not have gone with so much of the old guard. The All Blacks are killing us for pace.
0920 BST: Darryl, Chelmsford
Men against boys in the first half. How many unforced errors are we going to make? The lineout is abysmal - it looks as though we have never practised them - I've seen better lineout discipline on a local park. We need to calm the game down and play safe rugby and use our heads more - it's not as though we didn't expect a pacy pressure game from the All Blacks.
0824BST: Martin Bayfield, Radio Five Live
The Lions have got to come back into this now. They've got to get down the other end and play the percentage rugby that we want to see them play.
0804 BST: Gareth Lewis, USA
Tulsa, Oklahoma - 2am local time kick-off. They'd better win.
0803 BST: Michael Cook, Canada
I have just finished the late shift at work and on the way to the bar to watch the mighty Lions with my other English buddies. We are aiming for a sea of red in the Canadian redneck bar! I'm knackered already!
0800 BST: Vickie, St Albans
Here in Christchurch with the girls on tour supporting the Lions. Fantastic atmosphere despite the rain that's just blown in. Red shirts everywhere and the bars are heaving. Should be a blast of a game! Hi to all OA girls out there on tour. Come on the Lions!
0759 BST: Col, Ho Chi Minh City
We going to a DHL-sponsored function in one of the top hotels in town to cheer on the Lions! Tuesday I'm off to NZ for the last two Tests...can't wait! Even here in Vietnam there is a huge buzz about this tour and it's fantastic. Game on.
0753 BST: Sir Clive Woodward
The pack and the scrum are going to be crucial so I am glad we have a Frenchman refereeing today. It is the first time we have had a non-Kiwi referee in charge and hopefully we will not have too many re-sets. We just want to win the game, it's all about winning. There will be a lot of pressure and it's the players at tense moments that have to make the right calls. It will be a fascinating evening.
0749 BST: Lance Owen, Napier
As a pom who has been living and teaching over here for a year. There is a real buzz in the air. Your regular Kiwi has already predicted a 20 point win for the All Blacks, so if they loose on Saturday the Kiwis will be wearing mourning black all week. Go British Lions.
0744 BST: Tony Swain, Auckland
I'm English and naturally go for the Lions. You can feel the tension in the air even up here in Auckland. This is a massive game and my stomach's been churning since last night...and guess what, I've got to go to a wedding late this afternoon and tonight. If there is no TV I'm going home. I can't miss this.....and I'm a football lover. Go Lions.
0736 BST: Jason Leonard, Radio Five Live
It's very special. For four years you kick lumps out of each other and then you get a chance to play in the squad which is the best of everybody. You can't to compare this tour to 1993. That tour was totally amateur and at times we behaved like that!
0734 BST: We came to live here two years ago with our kids. They are all dressed in BLACK and my welsh husband and I in RED. It will be close, but start the roaring - the Lions are on the way!!
Jules, Waiuku NZ
0729 BST: Gary, New York
Finished work, went for dinner, watched baseball, had a nap, now ready to go out and watch the game at a bar on the Upper East side..this truly is the city that never sleeps. Can't wait for the game to begin, hope it's a good one and all those armchair experts will be proved wrong. None of us have won a World Cup, few of us have coached higher than minis, let Clive get on with the job. He's earned the right.
0725 BST: Mike Morgan, Dorchester
Who said NZ is rugby mad? Even the cathedral here in Christchurch has a huge banner which says "Have faith. Daniel can tame Lions".
0721 BST: Classic Nooner, Calgary, Canada
Very excited, I am betting this is gonna be one heck of game. Lots of Kiwis, Brits and Aussies living here going to be rocking at the Peanuts Pub tonight.
0715 BST: Match day is finally here and so are the Lions fan. More red in the town than the black so lets hope to create the 'home' feel for Drico's Army. The local papers are fairly tame not giving too much away. Whilst it is still bright sun shine it is very cold but that is not deterring the Lions supporters who have started to take advantage of Christchurch's hospitality. General predictions are for a tight stuff it up your jumper style tonight. This will help the Lions and keep the ball out of the All Blacks speed men in the back three. Lets hope the All Blacks really are chokers when it counts. The Lions can do it and this blogger thinks the heart strain will go to the wire but that the Lions will win by five. Order new finger nails now.
0714 BST: Dave, Wellington, NZ
Yesterday I had the huge good fortune to fly to Queenstown, about 50 minutes away from Christchurch. The plane was packed with Lions supporters. Although it was a very clear, sunny day the temperature at Queenstown was below freezing. We nearly had to fly to Southland and face a three-hour bus ride back. Not nice. So the pilot took the 737 for an impromptu tour of the southern alps while the sun did its healing work on the runway ice. I have never seen such spectacular sights as the plane banked and turned above the mountains and lakes of Middle Earth. The Lions fans were just overawed by the unaccustomed beauty of it all. When we finally landed one of them said that this was worth the trip to NZ all by itself. Later in the day I met up at the airport with a group of four very friendly chaps from Cardiff. We had a super chat about rugby, the scenery and the Test. They were clearly enjoying themselves immensely and looking forward to the big game tonight. This is what Lions rugby tours are all about. And NZers don't live in the dark as 11 straight matches under lights would seem to suggest!!
0711 BST: Charles, Taiwan
Soon off down to the local which sponsors our one rugby team in Taipei. It'll be big. Baby's got her NZ bib and black on, we're ready for it! Nervous though, I've been saying the same thing Eddie Jones said last night all week, the Lions can grind down to the 22 and have got the players and game plan to score from there. Go All Blacks!
0702 BST: Hannah, Christchurch
I was in the city this morning and I was totally amazed, red shirts swamped the city and not an All Black jersey to be seen. The weather is going to hold out I think, with beautiful blue sky this morning. Being from England myself, I am amazed with all the supporters. Campervans are all over the place even parking in supermarket car-parks! Every shop you go into you see All Black posters.
0700 BST: Grant Morris, stuck in Chicago
Does anyone know where I can watch the first Test in Chicago, I am getting worried. Please someone help me.
0658 BST: Steve, France/Brunei
I should be going offshore to an oil rig today but my trip has been delayed so I get a chance to watch the game with a few beers. I have managed to watch every game so far and I am worried for the Lions they have seriously under performed compared to the South Africa and Australia tours. Despite winning they haven't really cut loose. Lets hope Sir Clive's plan works and he doesn't rue his decision to omit Gavin Henson.
0650 BST: Ian Robertson, Radio Five Live
It will be a fantastic occasion, we only play a first Test match against New Zealand once every 12 years. It will be a sensational moment when the game finally starts. The Barmy Army have arrived. They were very noisy last night but eventually they fell asleep and they have rocked up to the ground. 0643 BST: Lucinda Rees, Christchurch, NZ
As a Brit living in NZ, I am rather disappointed in the accessibility of the Lions. Since moving here in July last year we have become keen Crusader Rugby supporters and will hence now be supporting the All Blacks tonight. Sir Clive is ruining the Lions' popularity out here. Go All Blacks! I will be going to the test tonight. Enjoy it in the warmth at home....
0621 BST: Tony and Sarah Roche, Christchurch
The big match day is here at last! Time for the Lions to go 1-0 up in the Test series. We're on honeymoon here in Christchurch, and about to go into the city, to soak up the atmosphere, before heading over to Jade Stadium for the match. Lions! Lions! Lions!
0613 BST: Joseba Prendergast, Houston, Texas
Been reading the BBC website all week, checking out what's going on. Will be in the local expat pub watching the game. As for the selection, only time will tell - come on Lions
0534 BST: Roy, Toronto
Oh Boy! Can't wait for this match. If you live in a rugby-loving country, be very thankful. I have to wait until five hours after full-time to watch the game. I will have to spend the day in a house with no internet! I say Lions to win by about six points. They will get a few points clear and we all know the AB do not fight back well come the big occasion. Go LIONS!
0501 BST: Ian, Christchurch
Red is everywhere on our streets. Some say the visitors have added as much as 10% to the Christchurch population today. Was in our Cathedral at a school orchestra/choral performance last night, and a Lions fan even managed to get in there and persuade the compere (an Aussie it must be said) to wear a red beanie! It was a beautiful clear frosty morning at 10 am local time - blue skies and sunny - but the official Christchurch weather forecast reads: "Saturday: Fine at first. Very cold strong southerlies spreading north from late morning, with showers, hail, and snow lowering to 200 metres. Max:7C Min:-4C."Looks like Antarctica has sent a sudden weather change to add to the drama! Perhaps fortunately our family has chosen to enjoy a "Christmas dinner" tonight - it's just past our winter solstice and the 25th - and to watch the game on TV, rather than attend the match.
0456 BST: Sir Clive Woodward, Radio Five Live I see this is as a one-Test series at the moment, it is a complete one-off. Saturday is so important. We are both well prepared and it should be a cracking match. The bigger the occasion, sometimes you know that there are some players that thrive on it. I have really gone for a team that will handle the huge occasion and not let it get to them and deliver a Lions win. 0244 BST: Stan, Singapore
This is the World Cup final that we didn't make. I for one recognise how much this game means to rugby fans from both camps. The atmosphere in the pubs in Singapore will be as close as we can to being at the Test. As an expat Kiwi I will be supporting the AB's but will cheer all good rugby. Kia Kaha.
0201 BST: Rich, Atlanta, USA
Cannot wait - not sure if I will get up early or go to bed late.
0123 BST: Ian Perera, New York
I'll see you in the Red Lion on Bleeker Street
