Just spoke to my Mum in Christchurch and she said the town has been taken over by the Lions. Red jerseys everywhere. Apparently 30,000 supporters. Forget about the Lions selection, and forget about how good the All Blacks are, this is going to be a classic match, and with support like that I am a very worried NZer. I cant wait for this to start and I hope our tight 5 and loosies are up to this and we can walk away with the win. All Blacks by 1.

In the last couple of World Cups they (New Zealand) have been the outstanding form team and they've not won it. There is that question mark above them: Can they pull it off? I played for an England team for many years who were seen as chokers and we came good in the end. Hopefully, New Zealand will as well, but not until we've gone!

Hells teeth I am nervous! In the UAE, Saturday is a working day for most. I will have to try to make it through the day without finding the result and watch it after work on video!!! I don't give a monkeys about the selection any more, it is all about getting behing the team.
1549 BST: Paul Adams, New York, via email
I'll be watching the big game in the Red Lion pub on Bleeker Street in New York City. Same place I watched England beat the Aussies in the world cup final. See if the luck holds out for the first Lions Test!
1505 BST: Guy, Leeds, via email
Unfortunately I will be watching the match in Leeds but my dad and brother are on their way to Christchurch now to watch the first Test. The only problem is they are still in Bangkok due to storms. I just hope they make it in time to see the Lions triumph against the odds.

Campervans hired by the tourists are everywhere. Most have been re-christened with names such as "Drico's Army" and "Eh Dirty Boy Lions" all over the west coast and Otago. Christchurch is alive with red shirts but the All Blacks have known of our approach for a while as the streets are lined with "Go All Blacks" banners. Despite their warm hospitality the the real battle will be on the pitch tomorrow night. The weather in South Island has been bright and warm but, with the game approaching the weather is changing with the coldest night on tour predicted at -2 degres before windchill and the rain! The plane loads of new fans are confident and predicting the mighty Lions by eight points! Fingers crossed but the All Blacks sport a number of Crusaders players for whom Jade Stadium is home will not be looking for an upset. Lets hope for an upset. Go Lions. 1420 BST: Justin Marshall, All Blacks scrum-half
Playing against the Lions completes my rugby CV, if you like, and it will definitely be one of the biggest moments of my career. But even more important was to regain my place in the All Blacks team and then to be part of a successful squad against the Lions. It's beating them that's important, not just appearing against them.
1408 BST: Australia coach Eddie Jones
The Lions have been bluffing in New Zealand and my mate Clive definitely has tricks up his sleeve. He's selected well. He's got a right-foot kicker at fly-half and a left-foot kicker at inside centre in Stephen Jones and Jonny Wilkinson respectively. The Lions will maul the ball a lot, back their forwards and kick for field position. What Clive has kept secret are his moves for when they do get in the 30-metre zone at the All Blacks end of the field.
1340 BST: Jason Leonard, Radio Five Live
Poor weather conditions are expected for the game - rain and freezing conditions. Hopefully that will slow down the All Blacks. But the Lions won't be thinking about that - they'll just want to get out there and play the All Blacks whatever the conditions. All the talk is on Jonny Wilkinson, who is a very, very focused person. Now he knows he's at inside centre, he will purely focus on that. He'll kick goals all day long - he's one of the best in the world at that. People have to remember that when he first started his career, he played outside Rob Andrew at inside centre. He'll be able to fill that position but will need help from those around him - particularly Stephen Jones and Brian O'Driscoll. 1313 BST: Undercover Kiwi
Jonny Wilkinson be warned, one former All Blacks captain is urging the New Zealanders to take out the Lions lynchpin by fair means or foul. "One of our loose forwards should hit him hard early on. If it's a wee bit late then tough," Stu Wilson says in The Truth newspaper. "Look, I'm not advocating anything illegal," he continues, "I don't want to see him king-hit or anything but he can be targeted for special attention." I for one want him to play a full part in the series, the All Blacks do not need to resort to cheap shots. 1207 BST: Helen, Auckland, via email
Have been living in New Zealand for the last two years and it's so fantastic having all the Lions fans out here and showing the Kiwis what real support is all about. It will be a close Test to call but we're all quietly confident that Sir Clive will do the biz. Go the Lions.

From our arrival on Wednesday morning, the banter in Christchurch has been incredible, with taxi drivers stopping in the street to have a cheery go at the fans and getting as good as they give. The build-up to the game tomorrow is getting feverish, and everywhere we go there are groups of Lions supporters enjoying the sights, with a huge number of camper vans on every road. It appears there's no such thing as a Kiwi with no interest in rugby. Good luck to the team for tomorrow, and see you all in Jade Stadium. The only downer so far has been the apparent attempt to take over the tour by the "Barmy Army" which the media and locals seem to have assumed is what the fans themselves are calling the tour followers. Go back to the cricket, lads - looks like England need your support, and we can do without you.
1040 BST: Jason Leonard, Radio Five Live
Clive has gone back to the tried and tested players that he knows are big game players. They've been in that situation before and been under pressure and performed. If certain people had stepped up to the plate earlier in the tour they would have been a shoe-in to the Test side. The squad seem to be much more at ease with each other than we were in Australia in 2001. We had no time off to gel as a group away from training fields and rugby pitches. We didn't have any time to build camaraderie. Now everyone's happy and had a crack at playing rugby. 1023 BST: Wynne Gray writing in the New Zealand Herald
Gavin Henson was less than reserved when told of his omission. Perhaps his displeasure was based on the belief that Woodward never seriously considered enough players outside a core of Englishmen, that he was always going to play Jonny Wilkinson somewhere. That opinion gained more traction when Woodward made a slip of the tongue as he spoke later on about the formation of his pack, a group he described as England, before correcting himself with the word Lions. 1007 BST: Gareth, Auckland but from Dublin, via email
I'm going to the first Test. One of my mates picked up a ticket from a tout and I'm flying down in the morning for the game. I've been to all six provincial games and am now smashed but wouldn't swap it. It's class.
0927 BST: Justin Marshall, New Zealand scrum-half
Ideally we would have liked to have had a couple more games before the first Test. But the fact we know each other's play is highly important. When you see a familiar face outside you, particularly in key decision-making areas in a pressure situation like the weekend is going to be, it certainly makes the difference.
0851 BST: Neil Back, Lions flanker
I think Martyn Williams [his flank rival] played really well on the 2001 tour and I got the nod as the seven, but he has improved as a player since then. He had a great Six Nations and I think he is playing really well. I only had one opportunity and I thought I played all right - I know how to play the game.
0828 BST: Julie, Auckland, via email
Get on the plane and come join the world's biggest party. New Zealand is a great place - they know how to party here. I think it will be a great Test on Saturday as everywhere over here is already buzzing. Get behind your team and support them. The teams are picked, the venue is ready and the fans are here. Let the games begin.
0753 BST: Ian Robertson, Radio Five Live
New Zealand don't lose that often at home if you look back over the last 100 years. The Lions have won just six times there. As it stands, the All Blacks have home advantage and good form, although that good form was seven months ago. For the Lions, I believe the half-backs have been in good form. Stephen Jones had a great game against the New Zealand Maori, while Dwayne Peel has played very well throughout. Josh Lewsey's had a fantastic tour and Gareth Thomas looks outstanding. Brian O'Driscoll, however, hasn't done much yet but he is probably the best centre in world rugby.

My daughter, along with all other kids at her school, was ordered by her headmaster to go to school today wearing black only. If they don't wear black clothing, they have to pick up litter during lunchtime and wash his car. We're not fanatical about our team really, it's all a myth!
0635 BST: Tennis star Andy Murray, Radio Five Live
When I met Sir Clive Woodward, he told me that when he coached England at the World Cup he made sure to take no shortcuts whatsoever and tried to make his players the best in their position. I think you can do some of that in tennis. You look at the best player, Roger Federer, and see what he does better, which in my case is everything, and then work to emulate that.

Well we made it. Greetings from the land of the long, white campervan. Special thanks to our new friend Reggie in the US Customs & Immigration Dept at LA airport. Reggie was an enthusiastic frisker and, had my designer boxer shorts contained anything but what God had given me, Reggie would have found it. Very reassuring. We were very pleased to have been met at Christchurch airport by Will Greenwood and, by a strange coincidence, his wife arrived just after he had met us. We are quickly becoming celebrities - two days here and two live radio interviews, but we won't be letting our new status go to our heads and will continue to allow the likes of Ian McGeechan to have his photo taken with us! We are staying at the same hotel as the All Blacks and have let them know the Welsh are here - the Llandudno Rugby Club Welsh dragon is hanging proudly outside our bedroom window. Bring 'em on.
0442 BST: Tom, Manly, via email
I was here the last time the Lions were in Australia and it was fantastic, as was the World Cup. Sure, not everyone agrees with Sir Clive's selections, myself included, but personally I'll be cheering as loud as anyone. With two Kiwi house mates it's important to get the first win thus giving me bragging rights from the start!
0349 BST: Hobbsy, Malaysia, via email
The British and the Irish over here can't wait to see the Lions. Whoever is playing, the support will be 100%. It's the biggest sporting event of the last two years. Let's support the team and stop pulling them down. Or are there just a lot of closet All Blacks out there?
0145 BST: Dave, Christchurch, via email
Temperatures are cool here but the centre of town is wall to wall red with Lions fans everywhere. I've just been to a bank in the centre to get some more cash and one of the tellers offered to sell me his two tickets for the first Test. I wonder if the lure of a few bucks will mean a diminished All Black fan presence? C'mon boys!
