Lewsey believes England have plenty of talent to draw on |
England full-back Josh Lewsey insists there is still time for the world champions to rectify their problems before the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
England finished fourth in the Six Nations for the second year in a row.
"I think the good news is that what needs to be rectified with our side is very easily done," he told BBC Sport.
"Although people say time is running out for the World Cup there's a lot of rugby to be played - let's not forget there's lots of talent in England."
The world champions have been heavily criticised after losing three out of five matches in the Six Nations for the second year in a row, and Lewsey admitted England had not performed well.
"We made a lot of individual errors, but it's fair to say a lot of those were brought on as a result of some hesitation or other factors," he said.
"The players have just got to look at themselves.
"I realise there's a lot of talk about issues behind the scenes. There are some issues behind the scenes that need rectifying, but I'm sure that'll occur.
"I want to play enjoyable rugby and be heavily involved in the England side going forward."
Lewsey was dropped for England's 28-24 defeat by Ireland on Saturday, and he is relishing the chance to return to action for his club Wasps.
"I think all of the players will be looking forward to getting back to their clubs and looking forward to playing some positive rugby and challenging for trophies," he said.
"Let's not forget the Premiership is one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
"I think that, as the weather gets better and the pitches get drier, the rugby will get better as well.
"I can't wait to get back to Wasps and hopefully challenge for some trophies and play some enjoyable rugby - that's why I play the game."
