Scots slump to triple Sevens loss
Ciaran Beattie
Beattie's try against South Africa proved in vain
Scotland finished bottom of their pool at the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens on Thursday after suffering an embarrassing defeat to Portugal.

The Scots opened their campaign with a 21-7 loss to South Africa despite a fine try from Ciaran Beattie.

They followed that up with a narrow 14-10 loss to Argentina, Clark Laidlaw missing a couple of key conversions.

To round off the bad run, Scotland went down 17-5 Portugal and will now play Kenya in the Bowl quarter-finals.

Kenya beat Uganda 40-5 to finish third in Pool C.
