Beattie's try against South Africa proved in vain |
Scotland finished bottom of their pool at the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens on Thursday after suffering an embarrassing defeat to Portugal. The Scots opened their campaign with a 21-7 loss to South Africa despite a fine try from Ciaran Beattie.
They followed that up with a narrow 14-10 loss to Argentina, Clark Laidlaw missing a couple of key conversions.
To round off the bad run, Scotland went down 17-5 Portugal and will now play Kenya in the Bowl quarter-finals.
Kenya beat Uganda 40-5 to finish third in Pool C.
