Fans give their Six Nations verdicts
With an exciting RBS Six Nations Championship ahead, we asked users of the Scrum V message boards for their thoughts on the tournament.

Four brave rugby union fans - one from each of the home nations - will provide weekly comment as the Six Nations progresses and start by predicting the outcome of every match on all five weekends.

Tim (England), Milligan (Ireland), Adi (Scotland) and Cynffig (Wales) provide some interesting scenarios.

See if you agree with their predictions (the winners of every match are highlighted in bold).

This Six Nations is really tough to call and the spice of Lions selections adds a twist.

Which French team will turn up? Can Wales win enough ball to live up to expectations? If Ireland avoid injuries, perhaps it's their turn.

Scotland still have real problems and I fancy Italy to pull off a shock.

England are an unknown quantity and they have enough depth to field a quality squad, despite injuries.

VERDICT: THREE-WAY TIE - FRANCE ON POINTS DIFF.

France 5 4 0 1 8
England 5 4 0 1 8

This could be the most competitive and intriguing championship for years.

Ireland are in very good shape and as long as complacency does not supplant confidence this could be our year.

France could skin everyone if they're in the mood. England should have a gargantuan front five and if the Welsh pack can secure ball they should score plenty of tries.

I expect to see some great rugby from Scotland and Italy but title hopes are unrealistic.

VERDICT: IRELAND FOR THE GRAND SLAM
PWDLPts
Ireland 5 5 0 0 10
France 5 3 0 2 6
England 5 3 0 2 6

Hopefully this will be the closest and best Six Nations to date.

Any side from England, France, Ireland and Wales could end up on top.

I can't see a stand-out team so don't expect a Grand Slam, although on current form either of Wales or Ireland could end up with a Triple Crown.

One thing's for sure. Italy will definitely collect the Wooden Spoon from Scotland at Murrayfield.

VERDICT: FRANCE TO WIN

I think that in terms of match scores, it will be one of the tightest competitions in years.

France's confidence will take a lot of restoring after that New Zealand hammering.

England are still rebuilding while Scotland have to be low on self-belief.

Italy will play well, but be outgunned overall.

I expect Wales, with Ireland, to turn in the most consistent performances.

VERDICT: IRELAND FOR THE GRAND SLAM
PWDLPts
Ireland 5 5 0 0 10
England 5 3 0 2 6
France 5 3 0 2 6
Wales 5 3 0 2 6
Scotland 5 1 0 4 2
Italy 5 0 0 5 0
