England unchanged for Australia

England coach Andy Robinson has named an unchanged 22 to face Australia at Twickenham on Saturday.

Robinson has unsurprisingly opted to retain the same personnel on duty for the 32-16 win over South Africa.

England produced a world-class display to demolish the Tri-Nations champions, a week after crushing Canada 70-0.

"Every one of these players deserves to keep his place," said Robinson. "There's much we can improve upon but I want to see this combination again."

Eight other players have joined the squad for training this week including rejuvenated Wasps hooker Phil Greening, who won the last of his 24 caps against Ireland three years ago.

Newcastle prop Micky Ward, Harlequins prop Mike Worsley, Saracens number eight Hugh Vyvyan, Leicester lock Louis Deacon, Newcastle centre Jamie Noon, Bath fly-half Olly Barkley and Newcastle scrum-half Hall Charlton make up the 30-man training squad.

England field only four survivors from the starting line-up that beat Australia in the World Cup final a year ago - captain Jason Robinson, wing Josh Lewsey, centre Mike Tindall and hooker Steve Thompson.

They will encounter an Australian side missing key players in fly-half Stephen Larkham and centre Stirling Mortlock, both injured.

Elton Flatley and Mat Rogers - cleared to play after a disciplinary hearing into an incident outside an Edinburgh nightclub - are likely to step into the starting line-up.

Wing Clyde Rathbone is also struggling with a groin problem, with Wendell Sailor on stand-by, while lock Justin Harrison also faces a fitness test.

But Robinson warned that Australia - who thrashed England 51-15 in the summer - will provide a stern test for his new-look side.

"It's right that we celebrated the win over South Africa but we face a completely different challenge this week," he said.

"Whatever team they put out will be enthusiastic and will test us in every area. No matter how well we have played against Australia in the past every game has gone to the wire.

"Whenever you play Australia there is a real edge about it. They stick together as a team and we will have to concentrate and make exactly the right calls for 80 minutes plus."
