Dallaglio has seen his team decimated by injury and retirements |
Lawrence Dallaglio is determined England will repeat their World Cup victory when they meet Australia in Brisbane on Saturday. Since lifting the Webb-Ellis trophy by beating the Wallabies England have suffered four defeats in seven matches.
"We started the season by winning in Australia, and we have to try and finish it by winning in Australia," said the England captain.
"We need one big effort to try and take something positive out of this tour."
England lost both Tests against New Zealand before flying to Australia as their poor run of form continued.
"The whole squad will share my sense of frustration," said Dallaglio.
"We now have to try and beat Australia, who will have their own motivation after events last year.
"It does not get any easier, but I am still determined to finish the season in much the same vein that I have played most of the season, by winning."
England's already depleted squad has been hit by further injuries and props Mike Worsley and Will Green have been called up from Churchill Cup duty in Canada.
Olly Barkley is expected to replace Stuart Abbott in England's midfield, with Mike Catt or Fraser Waters the alternatives if Mike Tindall does not recover from his latest injury setback.
Among the forwards, there could be a first cap for Wasps' Tim Payne at loosehead prop, but Woodward at least has plenty of back-row cover, with Martin Corry, Michael Lipman and Chris Jones all vying for starting places.
Australia have inside centre Matt Giteau and uncapped winger Mark Gerrard available for the one-off Test after they recovered from illness and injury respectively.
Giteau has shaken off a virus that caused him to miss the second Test against Scotland while Gerrard's knee injury has cleared up.
