Scotland call on Southwell
Dan Parks
Parks held off the challenge from Gordon Ross
Dan Parks returns as Scotland's fly-half and Hugo Southwell replaces the injured Chris Paterson at fullback for Sunday's Test against Australia.

Sydney-born Parks, a replacement in the 38-3 victory over Samoa, held off the challenge from Gordon Ross.

Southwell made his Test debut on Friday after Paterson suffered an horrific triple fracture of the cheekbone.

Centre Graeme Morrison is rewarded for his display against NSW Waratahs with a place on the bench for the first time.

Southwell's rise to prominence has been rapid and the 24-year-old former Worcester man admits he is pleasantly surprised.

"I only signed for Edinburgh nine months ago," said Southwell.

We set our own standards against Samoa and we are looking to maintain these standards
Matt Williams
Scotland coach
"The chance (at club level) came when the guys went away to the World Cup and when they came back I managed to hold down a place in the side.

"My plan was to force my way into the Scotland squad, not realising the opportunity would come this quickly."

"We watched the World Cup games at Edinburgh and I was interested in how the boys got on but I was concentrating on the job ahead with Edinburgh.

"Playing against the Wallabies this Sunday would have been the last thing on my mind."

Scotland coach Matt Williams is confident his side, inspired by their first Test victory of the year last week, will rise to the stern challenge of facing the World Cup finalists.

"We had a very good performance against Samoa and we are looking to have a performance that equals that," said Williams.

"We set our own standards against Samoa and we are looking to maintain these standards.

"Obviously the opposition the Wallabies will provide will be substantially increased from what Samoa offered so we have to make sure that we not only maintain those standards but take it forward."

Scotland have not beaten Australia since 1982 but in their last meeting during last year's World Cup quarter-final the Wallabies were forced to battle hard early before prevailing 33-16.

Scotland: H Southwell; S Lamont, B Hinshelwood, A Henderson, S Webster; D Parks, C Cusiter; T Smith, G Bulloch, B Douglas, S Grimes, S Murray (cap), J White, D MacFadyen, A Hogg.
Replacements: S Scott, C Smith, I Fullarton, J Petrie, M Blair, G Ross, G Morrison.
