Clive Woodward's side will travel to Cardiff as overwhelming favourites, following their opening victory over France. In contrast, Wales crumbled to their first ever defeat against Italy last weekend. But Wilkinson has rubbished any talk of a walkover and believes Steve Hansen's side will be fired up on Saturday. "Wales will be smarting about defeat against Italy," Wilkinson wrote in his exclusive column on the BBC Sport website. "I know a lot of the guys from Wales, and I know what it means for them to play England in Cardiff.
"If they start well and the Welsh crowd gets behind them on Saturday, we know we will have to work very hard." Wilkinson admitted he was frustrated at some of the reaction to England's hard fought 25-17 win over France. "Anyone who thought we were going to put 30 or 40 points on France surely hasn't taken much notice of the form they've been displaying in recent months," he added. "We did enough to win the game, and that is the way we have to approach any tournament. "The good news is that we didn't hit top form. So to come away with the points is extremely satisfying." |
