| Saturday, 15 February, 2003, 15:49 GMT Davies slams gutless Wales ![]() Wales crashed to a shocking defeat in Rome The critics were lining up to blast Wales soon after the end of their opening Six Nations defeat in Italy. It was the first time the men in red had ever lost to the Azzurri, but it was the manner of the defeat that had the pundits screaming for blood. Former Wales fly-half Jonathan Davies said: "The forwards were totally inept, there was no passion for the jersey. "I just can't believe it, they didn't attack in defence, there were no big hits."
"Our backs looked threatening but the forwards weren't in it." Davies' opinions were echoed by another former Wales great, centre Scott Gibbs. "Wales didn't come out of the dressing room in the second half, it was very, very shoddy," he said. "Italy played with more power and venom. They totally dominated every facet of the second half." |
