Minute-by-minute updates: Full time: Italy 30-22 Wales 80 mins: Italy 30-22 Wales 79 mins: Dominguez narrowly misses an interception try from Iestyn Harris' pass. 78 mins: Persico steals Welsh ball at the breakdown to set up Mauro Bergamasco for an exciting dart down the wing. 77 mins: Andrea De Rossi wins the man-of-the-match award, a close-run thing ahead of back-row colleagues Matt Phillips and Aaron Persico. 76 mins: Ceri Sweeney comes on for his first cap as the unfortunate Jones is carried off the pitch on a stretcher. 75 mins: Cristian Bezzi is yellow carded after a dangerous straight-arm hit to the face on Mark Jones. 74 mins: The tireless Martyn Williams sets up Rhys Williams for a run. Half-time: Italy 20-17 Wales 38 mins: Italy-20-17 Wales 36 mins: Bergamasco piles into Iestyn Harris from close range. He crosses the Welsh line but can't ground the ball as Williams helps his Cardiff team mate. 35 mins: Vaccari splits the Welsh defence from deep, Matt Phillips goes close on the left wing before a loose pass prevents Mauro Bergamasco scoring out on the right. 33 mins: Mirco Bergamasco makes a hash of a Welsh kick through. A loose pass is nearly claimed by the all-action Martyn Williams, but he knocks on. Leigh Davies shows his handling skills to free Shanklin, but an Italian penalty comes at the breakdown. 7 mins: Italy 7-7 Wales 5 mins: Italy 7-0 Wales 3 mins: The defending scrum is strong but Stoica drives over the line. Fortunately for Wales the defenders get underneath. 2 mins: Dominguez's kicking drives Wales back, forcing an Italian 5m scrum. 1 min: Mefin Davies' first throw to a line-out goes astray, gifting the home side a scrum on half-way. 1339 GMT: Iestyn Harris kicks off the Six Nations Championship 2003. The Italian forwards put in a strong drive, allowing Dominguez to test Rhys Williams with a garryowen.
