Danielli handed Scotland chance
The Borders' Nikki Walker
Nikki Walker has been left out of the squad
Scotland coach Ian McGeechan has offered Bath winger Simon Danielli the opportunity to impress in the latest World Cup preparation squad.

The 23-year-old will be joined by Melrose hooker Scott Lawson in the squad, which will meet at Murrayfield on 13 January.

Danielli was born in Edinburgh but represented England at various levels before opting for the country of his birth.

McGeechan said: "We've been aware of Simon for quite some time and his call-up is reward for some impressive performances in his last few games."

Edinburgh's Allister Hogg and Borders wing Nikki Walker are not included in the squad to allow them to play in the Scotland Under-21 shadow Six Nations programme.

"Ally and Nikki have both done well with Scotland on our tour to North America last summer and have continued their development this season," McGeechan added.

"At this stage of their development I believe they will both benefit from being involved with the national under-21 team."
