| Friday, 4 October, 2002, 15:33 GMT 16:33 UK Morgan out of autumn Test series ![]() Kevin Morgan will miss all four autumn Tests Wales and Swansea full-back Kevin Morgan's knee injury is worse than first feared and will keep him out of action for six-eight weeks. It means him missing Wales' autumn internationals against Romania, Fiji, Canada and New Zealand, plus the start of the All Whites' Heineken Cup campaign. The 25-year-old damaged knee ligaments in the Celtic League-clash with Caerphilly. Wales coach Steve Hansen said: "We are obviously disappointed that Kevin won't be taking part in the Tests. "But as a coach, you have to accept that players are going to get injured. We are looking at a few replacements." Morgan was an ever-present in last season's Six Nations campaign, proving to be one of Wales' most consistent and effective performers, and he has carried his form into the new season.
He began his international career at full back, but has thrived on the right wing in recent internationals. Other contenders are Neath's Adrian Durston, Bridgend's Matt James, and Llanelli's Matt Cardey and Garan Evans. Morgan's club place is taken by Shaun Payne, and Swansea coach John Connolly suggested the residentially qualified South African as an international option. |
