Gavin Henson said he felt no adverse reaction after his first game for five months following groin surgery. "It's the first time in a year that I've felt no pain in my groin," he said after the Ospreys' defeat at Leicester.
"We felt pretty dangerous in attack, but the first time I have the ball in my hand for five months, I mess it up.
"I was in but it's difficult when you have been off the pace. I've only just started full training last week so everything is happening quickly."
Henson was also making his first appearance on a rugby field since the publication of his controversial book My Grand Slam Year.
And he added: "There were a few boos from the crowd but that's OK. There were a few wolf-whistles as well, so that's OK."
The 23-year-old played the full 80 minutes at Wellford Road, and sent Sonny Parker over for the opening try in the Heineken Cup Pool Three encounter.
Leicester recovered, though, to power to an emphatic 30-12 Heineken Cup victory, and Henson admitted he fell off the pace at the game wore on.
He said: "I'm not interested in playing half a game or being told to come off later in the game. My mindset was to play the 80 minutes. I didn't know what my fitness was.
"I was being a bit lazy out there, to be honest, and there were a couple of incidents and chase-backs that I didn't really chase.
"I was conserving energy but I was fine. I can push it on a lot more next week."
