Two tries apiece from Aisea Havili and fellow wing Tal Selley, plus one from lock Vernon Cooper also claimed a precious bonus point.

But two sin-binnings and wasted scoring opportunities, Gareth Bowen especially culpable, will be a worry.

Gareth MacLure, Sean Lamont and Scott Lawson scored tries for Glasgow, but they were little consolation.

The Scarlets' opening try resulted from scrum-half Dwayne Peel's quick thinking to take a tap penalty and race towards the Scottish 22.

Glasgow winger MacLure was hopelessly out of position and allowed opposite number Havili a free canter into the left corner, Bowen missing the conversion.

The afternoon got worse for the Scarlets fly-half after 19 minutes, when he was sin-binned by French referee Joel Jutge for tackling a Glasgow player without the ball.

It didn't take the visitors long to exploit their man advantage, MacLure gaining revenge on Havili by handing off the Tongan and going over in the left corner.

Calvin Howarth missed the conversion, leaving the scores tied at 5-5 after 22 minutes, but it didn't take long for the Scarlets to hit back.

Another sweeping move down the left flank saw stand-in skipper Garan Evans - wearing the armband with Simon Easterby injured - and Salesi Finau combine to send Selley racing clear.

The wing romped over from 30 yards and Matthew Watkins slotted the conversion, showing the returning Bowen how it should be done.

Yet within eight minutes the Scarlets were back down to 14 men, after Selley was judged to have deliberately knocked-on.

Further indiscipline by the Llanelli side in first-half injury time allowed Howarth to reduce the Glasgow deficit to 12-8 with his first penalty of the match.

Scarlets should have added a third try soon after the restart, but Bowen ignored a two-man overlap and was dragged down short of the line.

The home side recycled the ball, but a nasty head-to-head collision between Glasgow full-back Kenny Logan and Scarlets No 8 Dave Hodges saw the ball fall into Lamont's arms.

The Glasgow winger raced the length of the pitch to score under the posts, Howarth converting to make it 15-12 to the Scots.

Logan and Hodges, meanwhile, had to share an ambulance to hospital for minor repairs and a check-up.

Three Bowen penalties put Scarlets into a six-point lead, and they were further boosted by Wales and Lions hooker Robin McBryde coming on for his first game of the season following injury.

The forwards responded with a fierce drive to the Glasgow line, sucking in defenders and giving Havili space out wide to leave MacLure standing and claim his second try.

The all-important fourth try for a bonus point soon followed, as a rolling maul from a five-metre lineout shoved lock Cooper over the line.

Selley claimed his second try of the match in injury time, Bowen converting, while Glasgow had a consolation score from replacement Lawson.
