Gloucester moved closer to a place in the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup with a thumping victory over Ulster at Kingsholm. The home side were dominant in the forwards and at the set-piece and also displayed greater finishing power.
Ulster were well placed until just before the interval when Gloucester's second try opened up a 13-point gap.
And Ulster failed to score in the second half as Gloucester's pack laid the foundations for another six tries.
Ulster were on the back foot from the kick-off, Gloucester establishing a 9-3 lead after only 16 minutes courtesy of three Henry Paul penalties to David Humphreys' one.
But it was Humphreys who created the first try of the game, sending scrum-half Neil Doak on a curving run and arriving again to score after Kevin Maggs was hauled down just short.
The fly-half then converted his own try to give the Irish province a 10-9 lead.
Paul put Gloucester ahead with his fourth penalty before Gloucester stand-off Duncan McRae intercepted a Humphreys pass and raced 70 metres to score.
And just before the break, Humphreys dropped a low pass from Doak leading to a Jon Goodridge try.
Gloucester, with Phil Vickery, Andy Hazell and Chris Fortey to the fore, went into overdrive in the second half.
Paul dropped a goal following a massive drive just after the break before prop Christo Bezuidenhout scored Gloucester's third try after 54 minutes.
And when Humphreys again had a pass picked off by Simpson-Daniel two minutes later, Gloucester were assured a bonus point.
The home side then lost McRae to what looked a serious injury before Marcel Garvey and Adam Balding completed the rout in stoppage time.
The result leaves Gloucester five points behind leaders Stade Francais, with Ulster one point further back.
