Wasps claimed what could be the first part of a trophy double with victory over Bath in the Parker Pen Challenge Cup final.

The Londoners justified their favourites' tag by scoring three tries in each half to put them in good heart for next Saturday's Zurich Premiership final against Gloucester.

But the match was marred by the second-half sending off of Bath captain Danny Grewcock for punching his England team-mate Lawrence Dallaglio.

Grewcock could now miss England's summer tour of Australia and New Zealand with a ban loooming after he rained a series of blows on the top of Dallaglio's head.

It was the lock's second red card this season after an earlier dismissal last September in a Zurich Premiership game against Saracens.

Wasps' triumph sends fifth-placed Premiership finishers Leeds into next season's Heineken Cup, joining Wasps, Gloucester, Northampton and Sale Sharks.

The sixth place will be decided next Saturday with Leicester and Saracens meeting in the Zurich Wild Card final.

Bath had their moments - Olly Barkley, James Scaysbrook, Mike Tindall and Iain Balshaw collecting tries - but they were second best in virtually every department.

Barkley booted Bath into an eighth-minute lead when he landed a 50-metre penalty, but poor discipline immediately cost them dear.

Referee Nigel Williams yellow-carded Ireland centre Kevin Maggs for use of the boot on Dallaglio, and Wasps capitalised on the man advantage.

King's 12th-minute penalty tied the scores and Lewsey powered over between the posts in a devastating scoring burst.

King converted, and also added the extras nine minutes later when Stuart Abbott's jinking run sent centre partner Waters racing clear.

Wasps continued to turn the screw and they pounced again when Greening intercepted Barkley's pass on halfway for a 40-metre sprint to the line.

Bath, who lost hooker Jonathan Humphreys through injury, were in danger of being submerged until Barkley's superb solo try and conversion - plus a long-range penalty - kept the underdogs in touch at the interval.

The fightback was short-lived though as Wood brushed aside some flimsy tackling within two minutes of the restart.

But Wasps' aggressive midfield defence produced a fifth try when Logan hacked the ball clear and used his strength to drive over.

King converted and kicked another penalty to confirm Wasps' overwhelming superiority on a day that Bath - and Grewcock - will want to forget.

Tindall bagged a consolation score, yet Wasps completed a ruthless demolition job through Leota's 73rd-minute touchdown.

Balshaw had the final word by converting his own try from Mike Catt's cut-out pass, but by then Bath were already sunk.
