Scarlets relish French challenge
Llanelli wing Garan Evans
Garan Evans has been in try-scoring form
Garan Evans is confident that home advantage will see Llanelli safely through to the Heineken Cup semi-finals.

Llanelli secured top spot in Pool 3 with a 34-8 thumping of Glasgow in the final round.

Evans starred for the rampant Scarlets, claiming three of the six tries the Welshmen rattled up away in Hughenden on Friday night.

But the Scarlets wing denies they will be taking anything for granted in their quarter-final clash against Perpignan.

The French side topped Pool 2 thanks to Munster's dramatic win over Gloucester in the final round of group matches.

But although remaining unbeaten at home, Perpignan haven't travelled well - losing two out of three away matches.

"We've got quite a good record against French clubs at home," Evans said.

"I know the French have improved this year playing away from home - they've made it a target for one of their clubs to win the tournament.

"So it will be very difficult for us but being at Stradey we'll be very confident."

Llanelli know what Perpignan are capable of, having faced them in the Pool stage of last season's Heineken Cup.

The Scarlets won their home encounter 20-6, but were soundly beaten 42-10 in the return at the Stade Aime Giral.

"We know a couple of key players of theirs who will be quite important in the match," Evans added.

"I know if we can stop them playing then we'll have every chance of going through into the next round."

Although Perpignan no longer have former France fly-half Thierry Lacroix in their squad, Australia cap Manny Edmonds is proving an influential force at No 10.

Evans and his regular back-three colleagues, Barry Davies and Mark Jones, will also need to watch for the sallies of France international Jean-Marc Souverbie from full-back.

Leicester v Munster
Toulouse v Northampton
Llanelli v Perpignan
