Pennell broke his ankle in a pre-season game against Newport

Chris Pennell marked his comeback from injury by scoring a second-half try as Worcester Warriors edged Birmingham & Solihull in a scrappy encounter.

Matt Kvesic was impressive throughout and crossed for an early try before bottom club Bees hit back with scores from Russell Earnshaw and Rob Connolly.

Pennell's score came just moments into the second half as he collected a pass from Andy Short to slide over.

Battling Bees drew level again but Oriol Ripol won it for Warriors.

Worcester now face London Welsh, Nottingham and Bristol in the play-offs which start next month.
